Hole Shape

 

The most common perforated sheet metal hole is the round shape. This is simply because the hole is the easiest punching tool to manufacture, reducing the cost for both the punch and the die. According to the Wilson standard tool booklet (www.wilsontool.com), the standard tool shapes can be seen on the illustration below:
